No bail for alleged perpetrator of sexual assault in Biloela

A 32-YEAR-OLD man charged with assault with intent to commit rape had his bail denied in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

He was charged after he allegedly attacked a woman in the early hours of Sunday in Biloela.

Police alleged the woman was walking along Kariboe St about 2.20am when she was approached by the man.

It is alleged he sexually assaulted the woman before she managed to call for assistance.

Another person came to her aid, bringing the attack to an end.

A brief struggle was believed to have taken place, before the attacker fled the scene on foot.

A man appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday, where he made his application for bail to Magistrate Russell Warfield.

Magistrate Warfield refused the application, adjourning the matter until June 23.

Queensland Police Service also asked anyone with information which they believe could assist with this incident to contact Gladstone police on 49713222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or at www.crimestoppers.com.au.
