Newman won't talk about LNP spending big in Ashgrove

ASHGROVE'S $18.5 million "strong local plan" is another issue off limits this week, as the LNP seeks to recalibrate its election campaign.

Premier Campbell Newman announced $18.5 million in promises for the Ashgrove electorate as the first of the LNP's election promises, just days after calling the state election.

Since then, local LNP MPs and candidates have been releasing their own "local plans", which are dependent on their re-election.

Robert Cavallucci, the LNP MP for Brisbane Central, one of the seats under threat of falling back to Labor, has made $6.5 million in promises, the bulk of which in the form of a new school hall for Kelvin Grove State College.

But no local plan comes close to the $18.5 million promised to the Ashgrove electorate, which had already received more than $100 million in projects and grants since Mr Newman was elected three years ago.
