INTERACTIVE: New service station proposed for Dawson Hwy

ANOTHER service station could be popping up along the Dawson Hwy on a vacant block between Red Rooster and KFC.

A development application was lodged with Gladstone Regional Council on January 15 for the service station, food and drink outlet.

It would be the only service station on the Dawson Hwy between Clinton and Glenlyon St and use a vacant block that backs onto the railway.

The application was for 8 Wenitong St but that blocks backs onto the Dawson Hwy near the intersection to Breslin St.

It has a zoning for medium density residential under the planning scheme meaning a material change of use application would need to be approved by Gladstone Regional Council.

The council's planning department said the application submitted was a material change of use but it wasn't "properly made".

As a result the application is not publicly available.

In the past the site has been earmarked for a 52 unit motel and a big shed.

Brent Barnes-Mayman Yeah only if the servo has the same prices as servos in Boyne island , that'll stir up these money hungry prices in town lol

Pete Left Why? Is there not enought servos in Gladstone. I'm sure the council will approve it cause it will mean more rates money..

Yarrum Yelvon A sizzlers would be the go.

Hayden Mcdonald We don't need another one , there is a handful within a few kms radius of this

Larney Irvine Only if they have good exits and entries not like Dan Murphy/Bunnings

Robyn Vickery That's where Aldi should've went and put the servo back where it was

Kevin James Kershaw How many servo do we need in Gladstone

Glenn Lloyd How about a Nuclear space tracking station ? With laser beams and stuff

Sharyn McCallum It would definitely fill the gap that is currently there

Gayle Heymer Only if its an independent not one of the big boys
