New medical centre for Kin Kora approved by council

A NUMBER of businesses have been given development approval by Gladstone Regional Council.

A new medical centre was among the businesses to receive approval at the council's meeting on Tuesday.

Located at Pacific Court, Kin Kora, adjacent to Sun Valley Market Place, the single storey building will house a medical centre and two shops, and will have 22 car parking spaces.

Council's regional strategy portfolio spokesman Matt Burnett said the development would be a welcome addition to the popular family suburb.

"This medical centre will be ideally located next to established shopping and community facilities," Cr Burnett said.

Another Gladstone development to receive approval at the meeting was an extension of the Why Not Motel in Coon St.

An existing low-set brick building at the southern end of the block will be demolished to make room for the construction of 21 new motel rooms over multiple levels.

The council attached several conditions to the approval regarding setback issues, building aesthetics and visual amenity.

Sandcastles 1770 Motel and Resort on Grahame Colyer Drive, Agnes Water, also received approval for an extension and renovations for an additional five motel units.
