League legend Larson thrilled as new carnival is a hit

GARY Larson is a rugby league legend and is doing whatever he can to enhance the game.

On Friday Larson saw the latest profit his name has been able to provide, with the Gary Larson 9s running seamlessly at Marley Brown Oval.

A high school competition, the 9s featured schools from around the region.

Larson himself was on hand to encourage the school kids and see the up and coming talent, something he prefers to see instead of the top level of the sport.

"It is a good concept, there is school football around but not enough," he said.

"It is the first games of football I have seen all year, so to come and see the school kids play is good."

The inaugural one day carnival was a great success, and will be turned into an annual event.

"As long as they have a good time and fun together that is the main thing," Larson said.
