New journalist joins The Observer team

HI Gladstone!

My name is Noor.

I am a recently graduated journalist from Brisbane and the newest addition to The Observer's newsroom.

My last media adventure had me trek to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, where I decided the grit of the Wild West was too much for my fragile city-dweller sensibilities.

Gladstone has been a refreshing change.

I am keen to meet the people of this city who, thus far, have been incredibly kind and generous.

For instance, last night a gentleman left the comfort of his apartment and used his security keycard to help me exit a locked carpark after I forced myself in, convinced it was where I needed to be.

It was not where I needed to be.

I hope to do my bit while I am here and tell as many interesting stories as I can.

When I am not working, you may find me discount-grocery shopping, desperately trying to save enough money for a holiday to beautiful Heron Island.

If you do ever see me on the street - no doubt looking very lost or stuck in a carpark I am not meant to be in - feel free to say hello.

More importantly, if you have a story, I'm all ears.

Reach me online by emailing noor.gillani@gladstone

observer.com.au or give me a call on 49703005.
