New coach Rodney Eade gets seal of approval from Suns stars

HE MAY have only been a keen bystander for much of the first training session, but new Gold Coast coach Rodney Eade has already had a big impact on his new club.

Vice-captain Tom Lynch said the appointment of the former Sydney Swans and Western Bulldogs mentor had lifted the excitement levels among the group.

"He's well known throughout the industry. Everyone was pretty excited that we've got a guy like him ... fantastic for us," Lynch said.

"He's well respected and I'm happy to have him on board. He'll be great for us I think."

Lynch was part of a big group of players returning to training. Among those not there were some older heads including Gary Ablett, Michael Rischitelli and Jarrod Harbrow, who will all return in the next fortnight.

Young gun Jaeger O'Meara (pictured) was also absent. He has undergone the first of two bouts of knee surgery in London and faces a race against time to play in round one.
