Smooth ride as retirement village opens car park

VAL Curtis had her car keys ready in hand when Settlers Retirement Village opened up its new car park recently.

The resident of 15 months was the first one to park in the new facility.

"It's magic. The old one was all gravel, so this is lovely," she said of the newly constructed and sheltered car park.

Residents gathered with village manager Cheryl Liddell and Gladstone Mayor Gail Sellers to officially open the new car park.

"I had never had that many people watch me park before," Ms Curtis said.

"I've been parking out in the street, so I'm glad it's all done now."

Village manager Cheryl Liddell said the new car parks were a significant investment for Settlers.

"We know the importance of maintaining our village," she said.

"We are the only group offering leasehold retirement living in Gladstone."
