SKODA has maintained its aggressive pricing strategy with the updated Yeti, with the new model starting from $23,490.

While there have been some run-out Yetis available for $21,990 drive-away in recent months, the new base model represents a $2800 reduction on the previous entry-level variant.

The top-of-the-range diesel is down $4400.

There are four model variants: two-wheel drive 77kW (manual and automatic) and 90kW turbocharged petrol engines, along with the range-topping 4x4 Outdoor with diesel powerplant and more robust looks.

The two-wheel drive Yeti range is available in two specifications - the 77TSI Active partnered to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission and the 90TSI Ambition, which is mated with a seven-speed DSG transmission.

The range-topping diesel is a 2.0-litre powerplant generating 103 kilowatts, paired with a six-speed DSG.

The 77kW 1.2 TSI with the manual box achieves the lowest fuel consumption in the range with an average 6.0 litres per 100km, and 6.7 with a dual clutch DSG automatic.

The 90kW 1.4-litre TSI has official consumption of 6.8L/100km.

The common rail diesel engine achieves 6.7L/100km.

New features across the range include a 14.7cm Amundsen touch-screen audio unit, rear parking sensors, keyless entry with push button start and a rear view camera.

All new Yeti different front and rear ends with LED rear lights, new radiator grilles, new bumpers, new front headlights and fog lights (Ambition and Outdoor models), a new bonnet and the new vehicle logo.

Across the range standard features include alloys, cruise control, seven airbags and a technological safety suite which delivers five-star safety, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, along with height adjustable seats for driver and front passenger.
