Negotiators called to get suspect off roof
POLICE negotiators and firefighters were called to Coffs Harbour's Cox Ln yesterday after a man climbed on to a roof during a police pursuit and refused to come down.
Police were initially called to an alleged break and enter at Mildura St at 4.25pm.
Police said the person of interest was seen by officers in Long St a short time later and they chased him on foot, resulting in the 31-year-old climbing on to the roof of a residential garage.
Police established a perimeter after the man refused to climb down from the roof.

Police say the man appeared as if he was going to jump from the 3m roof on several occasions.
After more than four hours on the roof, the man was helped down a ladder by firefighters and police negotiators at 9.10pm.
He was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and underwent a mental health assessment.
The man was charged with two counts of break, enter and steal, possessing a prohibited drug, trespassing and resisting police.
An apprehended domestic violence order was also served relating to a domestic violence aspect of the incident.
He was bail refused to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
