Nathan Reardon in Bulls' Sheffield Shield squad

AFTER smashing an extraordinary 141 not out from just 51 balls in Sunday's T20 Challenge, Queensland selectors have included Nathan Reardon in the Bulls' Sheffield Shield squad to take on New South Wales at Allan Border Field starting on Friday.

The dashing left-hander, who hasn't played a first-class game this season, has been called in at the expense of Bulls captain James Hopes who suffered a knee injury during last week's first innings win over South Australia.

With two Shield matches on the road coming up next month, selectors have taken the opportunity to rest players with niggling injuries.

Apart from Hopes, who plans to return for the Sheffield Shield and Ryobi Cup matches against Tasmania in Hobart in 10 days time, fast bowler Ben Cutting (groin) and leg-spinner Cameron Boyce (finger) will also be spelled.

Paceman Cameron Gannon and allrounder Michael Neser have been included in the 12-man squad with Reardon.

Bulls squad: Chris Hartley (c), Joe Burns, Luke Feldman, Peter Forrest, Cameron Gannon, Nathan Hauritz, Alex Kemp, Usman Khawaja, Alister McDermott, Michael Neser, Nathan Reardon, Wade Townsend, (12th man to be named on morning of match).
