NAME AND SHAME: Three drink drivers busted on CQ roads

THREE drivers pleaded guilty to drink driving in the Central Highlands when they faced Emerald’s Magistrate Court today.

Cattle grazier Ryder Lindley Yates, 23, was intercepted by police at Emerald’s Pritchard Rd about 1.35am on June 12 for a Random Breath Test (RBT).

Police prosecutor Sergeant Kevin Ongheen said the father-of-one returned a BAC of 0.081 per cent.

Yates pleaded guilty to drink driving over the general alcohol limit but not over the middle alcohol limit.

He was convicted and fined $500 and disqualified from driving for two months. A conviction was recorded.

A truck driver recorded a BAC of 0.081 per cent when he undertook an RBT near Emerald’s KFC, the court heard.

Sgt Ongheen said Matthew William Kirby was intercepted by police on Curt Street at 8.35pm on April 14.

Kirby today pleaded guilty to drink driving over the general alcohol limit.

“This is a big learning curve for me,” he told the court.

Kirby was convicted and fined $600 and disqualified from driving for three months. A conviction was recorded.

He was granted a restrictive licence to drive for work purposes only.

A school cleaner was caught drink driving at Capella.

Melissa Rachel Lowe was intercepted by police at 6.35pm on April 17, while driving at Slider St, Capella, Sgt Ongheen said.

Lowe was required to undertake a RBT and returned a positive reading of 0.064 per cent BAC.

She pleaded guilty to drink driving over the general alcohol limit.

Lowe was convicted and fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month. A conviction was recorded.
