Mystery over future of Reds player Lustica

BRISBANE Roar officials were tight-lipped yesterday when asked about Steve Lustica's walk-out at Adelaide.

Reds officials said on Wednesday that Lustica wanted to join his former club, Brisbane, and the 22-year-old did not show up at training in Adelaide yesterday.

It is understood the midfielder has not signed a contract at the Roar.

A club spokeswoman said: "We don't comment on player movements until they get finalised. We're not sure what will happen."

Lustica is one of seven Reds players who have less than six months remaining on their contracts, meaning they are allowed to start negotiating new deals.

It was reported that a spokesperson from Professional Footballers Australia - the Australian soccer players' union - confirmed that organisation was dealing with Lustica's predicament.
