Mutts sneak home
THREE matches were played in the Homeloans Etc Twenty/20 competition on Sunday at Clinton Park, and the best of the trio was saved until last.
Gladstone Rebels played the Dirty Mutts. The Rebels won the toss, batted first and made 7-170 off 20 overs.
Doing the damage with the bat were B Penridge, who knocked up 33 off 20 balls, and B Harris, who scored 32 off 19.
N Coombes was the best bowler for the Dirty Mutts, taking 2-35 off three overs, while D Box snared 1-7 off two.
With a reasonable tally to chase, Mutts reached the score with a little more than an over to spare and lost seven wickets on their way to 171.
M Walker shone with the bat, making 41 off 18 deliveries, while B Adkins also got amongst it, scoring 40 off 27.
Penridge was the pick of the bowlers, capping off a good all-round afternoon with 2-18 off three overs, while H Fordyce took 2-26 off three overs.
In the first game of the day, Ballbreakers sent the President’s XI in to bat and they scored 120 off 18.1 overs.
R Newman made 17 off 19 balls, while J Maudsley finished with 13 off 24. Ballbreakers’ best bowler was K Graham, with 2-6.
Ballbreakers reached the total, losing six wickets on the way to making 126 in 11.2 overs.
D Kennedy scored 37 runs off 15 balls and A Miedecke hit 25 off 16.
J Brown took 1-18 off two overs for President’s XI.
Dieselec Devils batted first against NFI and made 100 off 16 overs. N Fritz made 15 off as many balls and S McMahon clubbed 18 off 10. K Barton grabbed 3-9 and C Turnbull took 3-11.
NFI made 101 off 11.1 overs, losing four wickets on the way to victory. D Johnson hit 23 off 16, and J Hall 29 off 18. N Fritz took 1-13 off two overs, while C Bunge snared 1-15..
