Claims CCTV footage 'shows jockey walk away after fight'

THE CASE against the NRL player agent accused of murdering former bush jockey Shaun Miles will head back to court this month.

Mr Miles was found dead in Kingaroy on May 24 last year. His body was found in the front yard of a house on the corner of Alford and Fisher Sts.

Mr Miles had been with friends at Kingaroy's Club Hotel on May 23, 2013, where he was allegedly involved in a scuffle with several NRL agents in town for the annual rugby league schoolboys' carnival.

After a five month investigation police charged Sydney-based player agent Paul Bruce Sutton, 41, with Mr Miles' death.

Sutton is listed as a player agent for NRL stars Kieran Foran, Josh Dugan and Gareth Widdop.

Police alleged Sutton was staying at the Club Hotel to watch the Queensland Open Schoolboy Rugby League when the incident occurred.

They further allege an altercation between the pair was captured on CCTV in which Sutton allegedly held Mr Miles before throwing him to the ground during a fight.

The CCTV footage, in the beer garden or smoking area of the hotel, allegedly showed Mr Miles was knocked unconscious for a short period but was then seen to wake up and leave the hotel.

The matter was briefly mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday and was adjourned.

The case has been listed for mention again on February 24.
