Mum arrested 'trying to show kids good time'

A US woman was arrested for endangering her two children by towing them in a wagon behind her car.

KIRO7 reports that Alana Nicole Donahue, 27, was arrested an hour after Springfield police in Oregon received calls from concerned drivers.

Lt. Scott McKee of the Springfield Police Department said Donahue told authorities she "didn't understand what the problem was because she was only driving 5 mph (8km/h) and she just wanted to show the kids a good time."

The children are aged three and five years old.

Lt McKee said Donahue was not intoxicated.

The wagon was tied to the vehicle with "a strap or similar connector," the Register-Guard reported.

Drivers told police that Donahue was waving vehicles to go around her as she drove in circles through the roundabout.

At least one witness took photos and videos.

Donahue was charged with reckless endangerment.

The Department of Human Services have placed the children in the care of another person according to the police log.
