Muddies clinch grand final berth

YARALLA Muddies under-17s are through to the grand final after a stirring one point win against Yeppoon Swans

The second semi-final was played on Saturday, with Muddies taking on the undefeated Swans. Yeppoon shot out of the blocks in the first quarter with three quick goals. The Muddies' defence was under attack but held strong.

Down by 19 points at quarter time, the under-17s hit back with a four goal to two quarter, and played more as a team after a few positional changes. At half time there were only five points in it.

The third quarter was a battle of the backlines as both team battled to score, and Muddies registered more behinds than goals.

Jay Gardiner was brilliant in defence as he stopped a number of certain goals, both teams scoring only one goal each.

This set up a big last quarter, as Yeppoon pressed the Muddies backline again.

In a thriller, it was a one-point Muddies victory following a mad scramble to score, and earn the week off.

Final Score: Muddies 6.9.45 defeated Swans 6.8.44.
