Mt Robert climb invite

STANDING about 1000m high, Mt Robert is the highest mountain between the Gold Coast and Townsville.

For years, a group of Ubobo residents have been challenging themselves, and anyone who wished to join in, to tackle the mountain.

Boyne Valley Canoe Club president Dennis Martin said it was more than just a training exercise with groups welcome to camp overnight and all proceeds going to the canoe club.

"We follow the rainforest all the way, that's the attraction I think," Martin said.

"It's beautiful.

"There are pines up there that two men can't reach around."

In past years Martin said they had taken up a group of 15 but with more leaders this year they could handle more with all ages and abilities welcome.

The weekend-long event includes camping facilities with water and firewood at Harmony Farm with the warm-up starting at 2pm on Saturday.

The main event gets under way at 7am on Sunday.
