Mt Morgan man fined for self-medicating

MT MORGAN'S Richard Vernon Grey should have just gone to the chemist for some medication.

But instead, the 44-year-old decided to use amphetamines to self-medicate.

The decision landed him in the Rockhampton Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Prosecutor Clancy Fox told the court Mount Morgan police were executing a warrant at his address when they found the drugs and a pipe.

"At 10am on December 2, police attended the Mount Morgan residence to execute a warrant and they found Grey at the rear of the address," Mr Fox said.

"Police found a blue bag in the residence that contained a clip seal bag of crystal substance that weighed four grams.

"Police also found his identification in the bag along with a pipe inside a black sunglasses case, along with a cigarette filter and a scoop straw.

"At first he was reluctant to talk to police but eventually admitted to owning the bag and its contents."

Grey pleaded guilty to one count of possessing dangerous drug and one count of possessing utensils used in connection to drugs.

He was fined $950 and a conviction was recorded.
