MP plans Agnes Water visit to hear local concerns
FEDERAL MP Ken O'Dowd will visit Agnes Water on Tuesday to consult with residents about how he can help improve the region.
Mr O'Dowd said Agnes Water was a great region and a terrific tourism hub, but it was not immune from normal problems that everyone faced.
"I want to learn their most pressing concerns and make suggestions on how we can move forward," he said.
Mr O'Dowd has highlighted issues including communication, aged care, and disaster recovery as areas where he would like to direct focus.
"There are a few mobile black spots in the region, as well as a generally ageing population, so we should push for greater assistance for aged care, and it is an area that is prone to flooding," Mr O'Dowd said.
"But I'm asking people to come forward with their suggestions because I want to hear issues that are most important to everyone."
Mr O'Dowd will experience a number of local activities while visiting the region.
He will participate in a new tourism venture being operated by local business LARC Tours, talk to students at Agnes Water State School and Discovery Coast Christian College, hold a listening post event at the Latino Caffe, and engage in Politics in the Pub at the Agnes Tavern in the evening.
The Flynn MP will be joined by Queensland member for Burnett Stephen Bennett in the morning, and the duo will be available until just after lunch, when Mr Bennett departs, leaving Mr O'Dowd to continue throughout the afternoon.
