Movie night planned to raise funds for autism group

ASPERGER'S Autism Family Support Group will hold a public movie night on Saturday to raise much needed funds.

Families are encouraged to come along and enjoy the popular family flick Brave on the big screen.

Support group secretary Kianne Humberstone said it was important to get the message out into the community about the support available in town.

"We're still fairly new in town and a lot of people don't know we're here," she said.

"We're holding this event to raise money to cover the basic costs of running our group."

Gather the family, grab a blanket or a chair and head down to Shed 19 on Dalrymple Dr for a night of family fun.

Gates open at 5.30pm and the movie starts at 7pm.

The Asperger's Autism Family Support Group allows families to support each other as individuals and as a group in dealing with issues arising from being a parent or a carer of a person with autism spectrum disorder.

The group meets on the last Friday of every month at the Gladstone Community Hub and meetings are open to anyone with a disability or carers.
