Movie magic this weekend with special screenings

WHETHER you're one to tap your feet along to a musical, laugh and cry during a romantic comedy, or settle in with the kids for a classic family movie, there is plenty on offer in Gladstone for movie-goers in coming weeks.

The Gladstone Cinema is inviting all look-a-likes of Sandy and the Pink Ladies or Danny and the T-Birds to a special screening of Grease.

Screenings will be held on Saturday and Sunday in general admission for all ages, adults-only and Gold Room.

The movie screenings continue in to the night on Sunday during the CQ Starlight Cinema event.

Monsters University will be screened at 6pm at Blain Park, past Junior Brothers Rugby League ground.

The family event will have food and drinks available, a bar and a jumping castle. Bring along your chairs and blankets to the free event.

The Friends of RSPCA Gladstone are offering excitement for thrill seekers in their special screening of X-Men: Days of Future Past on Saturday at 3pm.

Women's Health Centre have also tuned in on the film frenzy, hosting a movie screening fundraiser at the Gladstone Cinemas.

The centre will hold a screening of Blended this Saturday to raise vital funds for the centre.

Women's Health Centre manager, Sandy Prizeman said: "We're trying to raise money to put in curtains and tidy up one of our rooms.

"We have a lounge area used by number of organisations... and, also, we have a visiting doctor once a quarter," she said.

Blended boasts a star-studded comedic cast of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

Tickets are $16 and can be purchased from the centre during opening hours from Monday to Thursday, 9am-4.30pm.
