Moura golfer riding high

 LAST year’s Central Queensland representative, Moura Golf Club’s Daryl Myles, is in a sound position to again represent the association in the inter-association teams event at Yeppoon Golf Club in November.

Myles has already collected wins in both Moura and Wowan Men’s Open events.

After the seven qualifying rounds, Myles is leading on 60 points from Rockhampton’s Nathan Trezise on 37 points.

Calliope’s Michael Chelepy is on 28 and Yeppoon’s Terry Bulger on 27. Michael Neaton is yet to complete the required seven rounds, but is also in a good position, already on 50 points after six rounds with CQ top points score at Rockhampton and a win at Yeppoon.

In the B-grade, Rockhampton’s Ron Murphy is on 27 points after scoring a win at the 1770 men’s open with another Rockhampton member, Gordon Atkenhead on 47 points after six rounds.

The C-grade division is wide open to a number of members,

Nett division: A grade: Daryl Myles 57, Michael Chelepy 27 and Terry Bulger 26, B grade: Ron Murphy 17.

TROPHY FINAL

Gracemere number two team of Glen Herdman, Brian Hock, Peter Goody and Rod Bredhauer qualified second behind the number one team in the qualifying round at Gracemere in May, but came out winners at the association’s final at Yeppoon on Sunday with a combined nett score of 211, winning by one shot from the Emu Park team of Trevor Topper, Rod Hadwin, Kerry Marks and Ron Roberts on 212.

Biloela’s Adam Drochmann returned the best gross score of 3 over 74 with Gracemere’s Glen Herdman taking out the best nett with a low 65.

Opening the presentation, Centracks representative Brendon Ladbrook said it was remarkable how the event had grown since its inception in 2008 and he looked forward to ongoing relations with the associations and its clubs.

CENTRAL QUEENSLAND JUNIOR GOLFER OF THE YEAR

Half-way through the qualifying round of the Central Queensland Junior Golfer of the Year, Gracemere’s Sam Broom on 48 points and Boyne Island’s Lily McKelvie on 46 are leading in the 18-hole Gross Junior golfer of the Year event.

13 hole division gross leader:

Gladstone’s Wilton Owbridge 38 points, and Emma List 26 points.

9 hole Gross division:

Ben Swaffield of Yeppoon 44 & Jamie Lee Salway 44.

6 hole gross division:

Biloela’s Louis Trenerry 34, Tegan Carpenter 42 Boyne Island.

Nett division:

18-holers, Yeppoon’s Brandon Antcliff 46, Sarah Antcliff 26, 13 holers: Wilton Owbridge 40, & Emma List 28.
