Morris ready to step in as Hopoate goes on leave

CENTRE Josh Morris has backed his brother Brett to give the Bulldogs the required spark from fullback in Sunday's elimination final against the Panthers.

Brett has been named to replace Will Hopoate after Canterbury's regular No.1 chose to sit out the clash at Allianz Stadium due to his Mormon religious beliefs.

Bulldogs coach Des Hasler has moved Brett from the wing where he has starred since returning from a knee injury in round 16, crossing for 10 tries in 10 games and making eight line breaks.

"I think Hoppa's been great in defence and attack. He's put himself in the right places and that's what we need from Brett as well,” Josh Morris said.

"We know how good of a finisher Brett is, whenever he gets half a chance he seems to finish them.”

Josh said his brother trained at fullback last year and was "comfortable” in the role.

"He knows his job. It's just a matter of helping out whoever's outside me defensively during the week and making sure we're on the same page,” he said.
