New art space gives creative types more room
CREATIVE Gladstone is expanding into a new space that will offer much more to creative people in the region.
David Young owns a shed at 8 Crow St which will be the new location.
Mr Young is excited about the prospect.
"We want to offer a space big enough to encompass all facets of art: photography, screen-printing, sculpture as well as an educational space," he said.
"We aim to get to a stage where Creative Gladstone can share talents with students and others to fulfil potential artistic tendencies.
"They can bring a lot to the community and we are happy to create a partnership to allow the arts to develop in Gladstone."
Adrienne Ward, president of the non-profit organisation, knows this is important for Gladstone.
"Supporting our artists and creating opportunities is at the forefront of why Creative Gladstone exists," she said.
"This new location will create new workspace, ideas, events and, above all, inspire all who participate."
The new location will run alongside the organisation's existing space on the corner of William and Auckland St.
Exhibitions co-ordinator Karen Swift would like to see the space become hub.
"We want to offer diversity in workshops and creative pursuits, marrying industry and artists," she said.
