Moranbah mum’s fingers crossed for transplant news

KATHY Abbott has had her fair share of setbacks.

Now she is counting down the clock to her kidney and pancreas transplants, hoping no more obstacles get in her way.

Today, the Moranbah mother will fly to Brisbane to meet with specialists to assess whether she can finally receive the transplants she desperately needs.

"Flying is quite difficult with my condition but it has to be done," she said.

Her partner Chris and children Emily, Phoebe and Noah are hoping for good news.

If successful, Mrs Abbott will travel to Sydney to undergo the procedures.

"I will need to be in hospital for eight weeks after the operations," she said. "We need to raise the funds so that the family can be with me in Sydney."
