Minor delays expected as road resurfacing works start

ROAD resurfacing works will continue across the region with crews to converge at Calliope and Beecher from Tuesday, weather permitting.

Gladstone Regional Council rural services portfolio spokesperson Councillor Leo Neill-Ballantine said the $2m resurfacing program consisted mainly of stage one Seal Works in rural areas.

"Traffic disruptions will be kept to a minimum but minor delays are likely," Cr Neill-Ballantine said.

Works will occur on Popenia Road, Wilmott Road, Old Bruce Highway, Schilling Lane, Jefferis Road, Wyndham Road, Schultze Road, McIntosh Road and Chamberlain Road.

"Resurfacing works will help to prolong the lifespan of these roads with the overall regional program covering a total road network length of 30km," Cr Neill-Ballantine said.

As part of the regional program, upcoming works will also include sections of road at Benaraby, Ambrose and Mt Larcom.

In addition to the stage one $2m bitumen seal works, $3m has been allocated for stage two asphalt resurfacing work which is to be undertaken between March to May.
