Milford leads Raiders to huge victory

A YOUTHFUL Canberra backline, once again led by outstanding fullback Anthony Milford, ran riot against an Origin-depleted Cowboys outfit at GIO Stadium yesterday, winning 42-12.

Milford (pictured), who leads the competition in line breaks, produced another fine performance, scoring a try and running for 152m.

He was ably supported by fellow young backline talent Jack Wighton, who scored a double and made 186m with the ball, and winger Sami Sauiluma (184m).

After North Queensland's Ethan Lowe opened the scoring and gave the visitors a 6-0 lead inside the first 20 minutes, it was centre Wighton who equalised by running a strong line.

The hosts then hit the front through a try to prop Paul Vaughan, before some razzle dazzle right on halftime. Milford threw an overhead pass before a Terry Campese cut-out to Sauiluma who showed great power and footwork, before Wighton finished off the movement.

The Raiders then scored four second-half tries.
