Miles and Chinchilla lead state in rental yields
WESTERN Downs towns are leading the state in rental yields.
The Real Estate Insitute of Queensland analysed Australian Burea of Statistics figures, and said Miles had the highest rental yields in Queensland over the last 12 months, at 9.3%.
Chinchilla topped the list for units and townhouses, recording 8.2%.
Both towns have experienced rapid population increases as a result of coal seam gas activity in the Surat Basin.
The REIQ gross rental yields use weighted median rents and sale prices to derive yields, which is the annual income earned from a tenanted property divided by the purchase price.
They do not take into account costs associated with the original purchase or the ongoing costs of owning an investment property.
