Mexican restaurant ready for Gladstone opening
GLADSTONE locals are expected to line up in droves as the city's newest restaurant offers free burritos to mark its opening at Stockland.
Guzman y Gomez Mexican restaurant will open at Stockland Gladstone on Thursday, offering free burritos all day.
The free burrito day has become a signature event for the company, with as many as 6100 given away at the opening of the franchise's restaurant at Southbank, Brisbane.
Franchise founder Steven Marks said the free burrito day was an opportunity for new customers to sample the business's signature menu item.
"We've always had a great response to our free burrito day. We have face-painting, a mariachi band and it's a really fun, family-friendly day," Mr Marks said.
"We invite everyone to come down between 11am and 8pm and see what we're all about. This will be a restaurant opening unlike any Gladstone has seen before."
The new restaurant at Stockland Gladstone is Guzman y Gomez's first venture in Gladstone but the 13th in Queensland.
Mr Marks said he was excited to finally be able to open a restaurant in Gladstone
"This will be our 42nd restaurant in Australia and we're excited to be able to bring our fast-paced brand of Mexican cuisine to the Gladstone community," he said.
"There is nothing like GYG here - the experience is about all things Latin, the food, the music, the art, and the personality and we look forward to making our mark."
Mr Marks opened the first restaurant in 2006 in New South Wales.
The shopping list for a free burrito day includes the following ingredients:
