Mayor announces disaster coordination centre activation

BANANA Shire LDMG Chair Cr Ron Carige advised that the Local Disaster Coordination Centre was activated on Tuesday afternoon.

Cr Carige said it was a precautionary measure in view of the recent water releases from Callide Dam and local rainfall.

"At this stage we are not expecting any major flooding, however we need to be prepared on the off chance of further water releases, and local rainfall may add to the existing water levels," he said.

Residents are reminded to check Council's website for regular updates on road closures.

LDMG will issue further advice as more information comes to hand.

For life threatening situations phone '000'.

For storm and flood emergencies contact SES on 132500.
