Mater Hospital second in state
GLADSTONE is leading the way in private health care.
Yesterday Gladstone’s Mater Hospital was announced as one of Queensland’s and Australia’s best private hospitals.
Doctor Adam Bush, an obstetrician and gynaecologist at the hospital, said that he was very happy to hear the news.
“It was great to hear. It is good news for the hospital and for Gladstone,” Dr Bush said. The hospital rated second in Queensland for patient satisfaction and outscored many larger, city-based hospitals in the Medibank Private Hospital Experience Survey.
Dr Bush said he thought smaller, more regional hospital had an advantage when it came to being more consistent with high-quality care.
“I was not surprised the Mater Hospital has been doing a good job. The nursing staff give high-quality care with a caring attitude,” Dr Bush said.
“All patients are looked after well and staff all have a commitment to care.”
Queensland as a whole improved from last place in 2009 to third in 2010 only behind South Australia and New South Wales.
All survey results were based on feedback from patients.
