Huge night of boxing on the cards
GET yourself ringside to the PCYC on Saturday for what is expected to be a thumping good night.
Renae Young and Skye Wieland are two of the scantily-clad card girls who’ll be circling the ring during the PCYC Fight Night, keeping tabs on the rounds as they pass by.
The girls jumped at the chance to feature on the night, especially as the organisation does fine work in the community in providing youth with plenty of activities.
“It’s for the PCYC and it’s great what they do for the young people,” Young said.
“It should be fun.”
About 20 fights are on the card, including local fighters Sam Nicol, Corey Hicks and Matt Douglas.
“The fights’ll be entertaining and the boys are keen to put on a good show,” PCYC boxing trainer Russell Thomas said.
“They’ve been training well and are looking forward to doing well in front of a home crowd.
“It’d be good to see a lot of local support down here at the PCYC for them.”
Boxers are coming from across Queensland to take part in the fight night, including some from Brisbane and North Queensland.
One of the feature fights will be Craig Hill Jr taking on Lachlan Hinchcliffe in what should be a cracking contest between two guys who’ve scored a win apiece in recent times against each other.
Special guests include NRL heavyweight Paul Gallen and his brother Peter, who plays for the Cronulla Sharks Toyota Cup team.
Doors open at 5.30pm with the first blow to be struck at 6.30pm.
Tickets are on sale at the door for $12, and pensioners and students are $6. Bar and canteen are also available.
