WHEN Martin Barkley isn't working hard at Rio's Yarwun site, he is flying through the sky - quite literally.

The self-confessed "adrenaline junkie" was one of 119 people to take part in an Australian National Record as part of the Australian Parachute Federation.

The team successfully passed its record attempt in California.

"Everyone was tentative once we landed because no one wanted to say we got it until it was official," he said.

"When it was official the feeling was bigger than the universe."

Mr Martin has been jumping for eight years, at least once a month.

He can jump at least 10 times in one weekend.

AS part a record breaking attempt, dozens of Aussies took the US sky’s last month’s sealing their names in the Guinness World Record book. Gladstone man and professional skydiver Martin Barkley was one of the lucky fliers.
