‘Marooned’ three days on Heron Island

MATTHEW and Karen Stoneley met in a pub in Gladstone nine years ago and on October 18 they celebrated their wedding.

The couple invited 60 of their closest family and friends from as far away as Western Australia to a relaxed and laid back wedding on Heron Island.

Mrs Stoneley said it was a funny wedding and she was still laughing about it.

"It was great just to have all of our family and friends marooned on the island," she said. "Everyone had three days of doing what they wanted. They could have a drink, go and have a rest and go for a swim. It was just brilliant. I'm going to get divorced so I can get married again next year."

Mrs Stoneley wore a personalised bohemian Lisa Ho dress she bought on the Gold Coast.

"I didn't really have a hen's night but we went down to the Gold Coast to find my dress," she said.

"I just saw the dress and knew it was the one."

Mr Stoneley did have a bucks party but it wasn't your usual blokey bucks.

"They played golf and then came back for a party," Mrs Stoneley said. "I crashed the bucks, it was good fun."
