MARCIA Hines was amazing as she had major league baseball players in tears with her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner at the opening of the MLB season in Sydney on the weekend.

Not so amazing was her knowledge of Australian cricket, however.

The singer tweeted a picture of herself with cricket hall of famer Ian Chappell at the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks at the Sydney Cricket Ground..

Unfortunately, she got the name wrong. Very wrong.

The caption read: "Look who I bumped into at the baseball - the one and only legend Tony Greig ... Cool!"

Tony Greig passed away in December 2012.

The singer tweeted an apology soon after - and another thanking Tony's  son, Mark Greig for his understanding in the whole matter.

The twitter drama comes as Hines launches her new album, Amazing.

To make matters worse, Ian Chappell was actually one of the MLB broadcast hosts for the whole weekend.
