Man’s ear chewed off in 'disturbing' brawl

A MAN has been left without part of his ear after a fight in Tannum Sands.

Gladstone police detective senior sergeant Luke Peachey confirmed there was CCTV footage of the incident on Friday night, and said the footage was quite disturbing.

"A scuffle has ensued where two people have gone to the ground and unfortunately when this gentleman rose he was missing part of his ear," Det Snr Sgt Peachey said.

The ear could not be reattached, he said.

"That's something he will have to live with for the rest of his life."

Gladstone police are still investigating how many men were involved in the incident.

They confirmed they had already charged two men, but expected that to increase to up to six people.

"We expect to charge someone for (grievous bodily harm) for the person is now missing part of his ear."

Snr Sgt Peachey said he believed people weren't getting the message, and wanted to reiterate the importance of having a safe night out.

"It's all good and well to go out and have a few drinks, but there (were) a number of incidents where people are being hit."
