Manly duo cop two-week bans

MANLY firebrands Marty Taupau and Addin Fonua-Blake will spend the next two weeks on the sidelines after being whacked for separate shoulder charges against Parramatta.

Compounding the Sea Eagles' season-opening loss to the Eels, forward leader Taupau faced the music over a 13th-minute shot on Suaia Matagi that was dubbed a grade-two shoulder charge by the Match Review Committee.

Taupau and Matagi's running battle was a highlight of the bruising affair at Brookvale, but with loading from three previous, non-similar offences, Taupau has copped a two-week ban after taking an early guilty plea.

Fellow prop Fonua-Blake has accepted the same punishment for a lazy, off-the-ball hit on Corey Norman in the final minute of Manly's 20-12 loss.

Taupau and Fonua-Blake will miss the Sea Eagles' next two matches against the Rabbitohs and Cowboys, further depleting a front-row rotation already without Darcy Lussick (wrist injury).

Elsewhere, Melbourne's Cheyse Blair is free to take on the Warriors on Friday after pleading guilty to a dangerous lifting tackle on Canterbury's Josh Reynolds.

Teammates Will Chambers and Cam Munster have also copped $1100 for respective contrary conduct and tripping charges.

Raider Joey Leilua has done likewise with a $1350 fine for punching North Queensland's Gavin Cooper, but teammate Clay Priest will sit out Saturday's clash with Cronulla thanks to a one-game ban for a crusher tackle on Justin O'Neill.

Roosters veteran Mitchell Aubusson has taken the early guilty plea for a grade-one dangerous throw on the Gold Coast's Ryan James and won't miss any game time.
