Man who refused to give thieves money bashed

A 21-YEAR-OLD man who refused to hand over his money was assaulted in Brisbane's Botanical Gardens on Monday night.

Police said that just before 7pm, the man was approached by two unknown males asking for money.

When the man failed to comply with their demands the two males assaulted the man and stole his backpack and mobile phone.

The man was taken to the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital for treatment of serious injuries to his face and jaw.

The males are believed to be in their mid to late teens and fled the location on foot.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have information that may assist their investigations to contact Crime Stoppers.
