Man shot in the knee after using ATM

A MAN has been shot in Petrie this morning.

Around 1:35am police were called after reports a man was shot near a shopping centre carpark on the corner of Beeville Road and Frenchs Road.

Police say a 59-year-old man was returning to his car after using a nearby ATM  when a white Ford Falcon sedan pulled up beside him.

The driver and sole occupant of the car then allegedly pointed a firearm and demanded money.

The man told the driver he had no money and was shot in the right knee.

The driver then drove off alongside a white Toyota Camry.

The injured man was able to drive the short distance to his house where he called for emergency services.

He was able to help police at the scene of the crime before paramedics treated him and he was taken to hospital.

No money was taken and the man's injuries are not considered life-threatening.
