Man steals beer then calls police to report himself

A BEERBURRUM man who stole a carton of beer rang police the next day to report the theft.

Shane Allan Goodall, 41, stole carton of beer on January 19 from Tin Can Bay's Sleepy Lagoon Hotel.

Gympie Magistrates Court yesterday heard that Goodall drove to the establishment's bottle shop at 7.30pm. A CCTV camera recorded the theft and Goodall's registration.

"The next day I wanted to make things right so I called the police," the defendant said.

Goodall pleaded guilty to stealing and was fined $220 referred to SPER and ordered to pay restitution of $47.
