Man kicks pregnant woman after hitting her with her car

A 24-year-old Kingston man has been charged following an incident in Loganlea today.

Around 11.45am a 23-year-old woman, who is 18 weeks pregnant, was walking to her vehicle in the car park of a health facility when a man known to her approached and an argument broke out. Police will allege the man stole the woman's mobile phone before punching her to the head and stealing her vehicle.

The woman managed to walk to a nearby bus stop where it will be alleged the man returned and drove the vehicle up onto the footpath and into the bus shelter, hitting the woman.

It will further be alleged the man then kicked the woman in the head and stomach before fleeing in the woman's vehicle.

Police attended a Kingston residence a short time later and arrested the man without incident.

The 24-year-old was denied police bail and has been charged with three counts assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, stealing and drive whilst unlicensed.

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.

The woman was transported to the Logan Hospital for treatment.
