Man glassed twice in bar brawl

A MAN was seriously injured in a brawl in Agnes Water over the weekend.

Police are investigating an incident where a 24-year-old man received a laceration to the right side of his forehead after being struck twice with a glass.

Around 11.40pm on Saturday the man was involved in an incident, in a licensed premises in Agnes Water, which involved an argument and physical altercation between a number of people.

Constable Simon Burns of Agnes Water Police said police were trying to ascertain exactly how many people were involved in the altercation.

“Police are currently taking statements from witnesses to ascertain whether anyone will be charged,” Constable Burns said.

The injured man was taken by the Queensland Ambulance Service and a police escort to the Bundaberg Hospital for treatment.

Agnes Water Tavern manager Gavin Williams will be available for comment later today but staff were unable to make any comment yesterday.

Back in March a Gladstone man, Andrew David Cole, 27 was jailed for 15 months with a parole release date of three months after glassing a man at the Queens Hotel.

Judge Irwin said in sentencing that it was important for Gladstone residents to see this type of behaviour would not be tolerated.

Detectives from Gladstone are conducting an investigation into this latest incident.
