Man injured after allegedly being attacked with star picket

A 43-year-old man has been charged following an altercation in Manoora on Friday night.

Around 11.30pm, police were called to a Pease Street residence where a 41-year-old Manunda man was located with serious head injuries.

He was transported to the Townsville Base Hospital in a critical condition.

Police will allege the two men were involved in a verbal altercation before the 41-year-old was struck to the head with a star picket.

A 43-year-old Innisfail Estate man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow.
