Man found guilty of murder of Michelle Reynolds

WAYNE Edward Jones has been found guilty of the murder of Central Coast woman Michelle Reynolds, whose battered body was found dumped near Coffs Harbour in December, 2012.

The 50-year-old Umina Beach man killed Ms Reynolds at the Arosa Motel on the Pacific Hwy, and left her body in bushland near Bonville.

The verdict was read out in the Coffs Harbour Supreme Court this afternoon.

Police had earlier alleged the pair were 'associates' and that detectives were allegedly led to the location on Butlers Rd after Jones was arrested in Brelsford Park.

Jones was taken into custody after officers found he was wanted on unrelated assault matters.

"Following the arrest police acting on other information went to a motel on the Pacific Highway at Coffs Harbour where a crime scene was established,'' police said at the time.

"Further evidence was obtained and led police to search bushland off Butler's Rd where the body of Miss Reynolds was located yesterday afternoon."

Jones will be sentenced at a later date.
