Man faces 74 charges of privacy breaches over recordings

AN ELDERLY man who allegedly took indecent photos and videos of women at the Cairns Esplanade will appear in court next Friday.

The 71-year-old Perth man has been charged with 74 counts of recording in breach of privacy after officers were called to the Cairns Esplanade lagoon yesterday afternoon.

Police seized his phone and found the indecent images and videos taken in public areas in Cairns over the past six months without their consent.

He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on July 14.

Police urge anyone who sees anyone behaving suspiciously or feels uncomfortable with anyone's behaviour to contact police.
