Man dies in Bruce Highway truck rollover

UPDATE: The Bruce Highway has reopened following a fatal traffic crash north of Bowen on Monday evening.

Officers were called at 6pm after reports a truck travelling on the Bruce Highway had rolled near Big Jack Creek.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 47-year-old Mount Cotton man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Bruce Highway has completely reopened however it is operating at reduced speed and motorists are urged to proceed with caution if travelling in the area.

The truck carrying motorcycles rolled south of Big Jack Creek, about 50km north of Bowen.

One lane of the highway has been reopened following the crash last night.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the sole male occupant of the truck was deceased.

Initial reports indicated a person was trapped in the cab of the truck.
