Gladstone man dies in crash at Turkey Beach

UPDATE: A young man died when his white Toyota four-wheel-drive crashed into a tree on Thursday night near Turkey Beach.

The 25-year old man was the driver and only person in the car when it lost control on Turkey Beach Rd.

Gladstone Police inspector Darren Sommerville said the man lived and worked in Gladstone.

"He was travelling west and lost control somehow and hit a tree on a bend 14km from the Bruce Hwy," he said.

Miriam Vale police constable Jason Pepperdene said his team got the call from first responders from Turkey Beach.

"The one male driver was deceased when we got there," he said.

"From what I understand he wasn't there long before we got there."

It was the second fatal crash on Turkey Beach Rd in the past five years.

FRIDAY: A 25-year-old Gladstone man has died in a single vehicle crash at Turkey Beach.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident, which was reported to police at 7.20pm on Thursday.

The crash happened on Turkey Beach Rd, about 14km from the Bruce Highway.

The man was the driver and sole occupant of the Toyota four-wheel-drive. He died at the scene.
