A MAN has been charged over the suspicious death of a 40-year-old man in Mount Isa over the weekend.
A 26-year-old Happy Valley man has been charged with unlawful striking causing death and is due to appear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court this morning
Investigators last night were investigating information there was a physical altercation in the lead-up to of a 40-year-old man after emergency services were called to a residence at Happy Valley, south of Mount Isa, about 3.50am yesterday.
Two people, a woman and her brother, were assisting police with their inquiries.
It is understood the woman was the dead man's partner.
Emergency services attempted CPR on the man when they arrived at the Emerald St house but he could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mount Isa detective Inspector Anne Vogler said a crime scene was declared with police, including uniformed officers, Mount Isa detectives and Scenes of Crime officers, at the house.
Insp Vogler said the dead man had been living at the Emerald Street address. She said police had set up an investigation centre based in Mount Isa.
It is understood the female assisting police woke a neighbour when the man was unconscious.
The neighbour then called triple-0.
The dead man's body was yesterday flown to Brisbane for an autopsy.
