Man charged over attempted robbery with meat cleaver

A MAN charged with attempting to rob a Sunshine Coast newsagent armed with a meat cleaver will face court today.

A 17-year-old Warana man has been charged following the incident at the Currie St, Nambour, business, last Friday.

Police will allege that during the incident a man, armed with a meat cleaver, entered the newsagency and made demands for money from the store attendant.

The store attendant produced a baseball bat and the offender then fled the store empty handed.

The man is scheduled to face the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
